A WWII German Kriegsmarine officer's dress sword by E & F Horster, Solingen, with white celluloid grip, lion's head pommel inset coloured stones, the 80cm engraved blade in brass-mounted leather scabbard, engraved OB M Funk Master Herbert Kupfermann UO739/37T, 98cm overall. N.B. The restored scabbard has been reconstructed with upper metal mount reversed, the blade in extremely good condition. Together with an officer's dirk, the 24.5cm fullered blade in poor condition, within engraved brass scabbard and bearing swastika and eagle finish, 41.5cm overall, (2). (The property of Herbert Kupfermann, telephone operator purported to have served in U127, U653, U3038 and German cruiser Admiral Scheer). Sold together with a number of copied photographs, provenance by direct descent.
