A Georgian naval officer's dirk, the 27cm etched blade marked "Drury Sword Cutler, 32 Strand, London", the ribbed ivory grip with oak leaf cross guard and lion head pommel, in gilt brass-mounted leather sheath, (some grey patches to blade, hairlines to grip), also an associated miniature watercolour purporting to be a member of the Suckling family in naval uniform, 55 x 48mm, inscribed on paper verso.....Suckling apprenticed cadet in the East India Company ...... sailed for Bengal in 1801 aged 21, (provenance: Wallis & Wallis, 19th July 2005).
